Obituary of Bonnie Marie Cates Bartlett

On Monday, December 17, 2018 Bonnie Marie Cates, loving mother, grandmother and sister passed away at the age of 75.  Bonnie was born on March 16, 1943 in Durham NC.  For many years she worked for Duke Surgical Oncology.  Bonnie had a heart of gold and always wanted to help those in need.  She had a passion for gardening and her favorite flower were knockout roses.  

She was married to Claiborne Lee Cates for 28 years.  They raised two sons, Anthony Cates (Lisa) and David Cates (Tabitha) and three daughters, Cheryl Cates Senter who preceded her in death, Teresa Harkness (Brian) and Pamela Cates.  There are fifteen grandchildren, Natalie Perry, Stacey Cates, Donnie Cates, Christopher Cates, Justin Brogden, Brian Harkness, Tiffany Campbell, Nicole Cates, Angel Cates, Ashley York, Andrea Senter, Catlin Senter, Jason Brogden, Rachel Honeycutt and Conner Cates.  There are also 18 great grandchildren. Bonnie was preceded in death by a grandson Robbie Cates

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday December 27, 2018 at 1:00 pm in the Liberty Freewill Baptist Church, located at 3864 Guess Rd, Durham.  The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church starting at 12 pm.  Burial will be in the Oak Grove Memorial Garden in Durham.
