All of us at Sarah P. Duke Gardens send our deepest condolences to Betty's family. She was instrumental in the early days of our educational programs for children and a devoted volunteer for many years. We enjoyed seeing her here on campus earlier in September to celebrate the exhibit running until October 21st in Duke's Perkins Library honoring her father Dr. Hugo Leander Blomquist and the garden here that bears his name. We are so glad she had a chance to see it. Her memories and writings added greatly to the effort. Rest In Peace Betty.

Betty was a wonderful soul. I work at Town N Country Animal Hospital and over the years formed a lasting friendship with her and Frederick. We visited together several times at her home in Twin Lakes, and she loved to tell me all about her family and her life. I was heartbroken to hear this sad news. Her sense of humor and always positive attitude was contagious. I know she would be so happy to learn that her beloved pup has found a loving home. Rest in peace my friend, Nancy

What a lovely woman...so classy and smart and capable. We have such wonderful memories of both she and LT. The world will lose some of its sparkle without her and we will miss her so. Sending healing thoughts along with the pride you must all feel for having her as your mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. You are in our hearts...and Betty and LT will always be there too.
