Cartie Talmage Davis, Jr., age 95, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away Monday, September 3, 2018. He was born on November 14, 1922 to Cartie and Launice (Weaver) Davis in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Cartie served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII as a glider pilot and then in the Air Force doing Air Traffic Management before retiring as a Major with a total of almost 25 years serving our country. Cartie worked for Eastern Airline for a number of years in the customer service department. When he moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas in 1967 he worked as a photographer for Ranger Boats for 12 years and owned his own photography store and studio in Mountain Home. His hobbies included: being an avid HAM radio operator, fishing, and going to the gun range to spend time. He was also a member of the Glider Pilots of WWII Association.
He is survived by his son, Darrel (Sharon) Davis of Grandview, Missouri, daughter Laurel Morgan of Richmond, Virginia, two grandchildren: Hayley Barton of Raleigh, North Carolina and Rachel (Nick) Taylor of Holly Springs, North Carolina, and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and one grandson John Christopher Lendennie of Blytheville, Arkansas.
A graveside service with military honors was held on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM in Hillsborough Town Cemetery in Hillsborough, NC.
The Davis family is under the care of Walker's Funeral Home of Hillsborough.
