Just heard the sad news about Steven's passing. I got to know him back in the early 70's while he was attending Boston University. We were in a band together and he played lead guitar. We had a blast and my memories of him will always be dear to me. He was a great guy. RIP my friend. Love Ya, Bob Leal

So sorry for your loss. Steve and I played together in a band when he was living in Winchester, MA. I still remember that Gibson guitar that he used to play!

Steven took me under his wing when I was an aspiring predental student working in John Horton’s lab at Harvard Dental in 1978. He introduced me to Max Goodson at Forsyth Dental Center when I started Dental school and was truly instrumental in starting me on my path to a wonderful career in and beyond dentistry. I am forever indebted to his kindness and generosity and willingness to mentor me while he was forging his own career.
I am so very sorry to hear of his passing and hope that my warm memories of many years of friendship and collegiality, as well as my deep admiration for Steve’s scholarship and landmark research, will bring some light to you, his dear family.

I was present at the 2015 ADA meeting when Dr. Offenbacher received the ADA Gold Medal Award. His work was an inspiration to the intertwined fields of dentistry and medicine. I was shocked to read about his passing. I offer my deepest sympathy in your great loss.

I was blessed to have been graced by the generosity, genius, humor, and dedication of Dr. Offenbacher. His impact and positive influence on me and my peers was instrumental in developing us into caring and thoughtful professionals and human beings.
He taught a master course in leadership silently to anyone that payed attention to him. He had many gifts, and developed and shared them without hesitation to all those he encountered.
