It is with great sadness that I send my condolences to the Lopp family. The Lopp boys and their parents John and Marie were loved on our Holly Grove/Turner road area. I will miss his visits to "check on things".

Dear Gary’s family,
I was very saddened to read the news of Gary’s passing! I knew of him growing up at Mills Home; however, I knew his parents much better. Our parents were great friends! Everyone that came into contact with the Lopp family knew of their friendliness and generosity! I saw Gary at the Sportsplex and around Orange Co. He told me of his disparaging diagnosis of Parkinsosn’s disease. I was sad for this wonderful friend. My condolences to all of his family! He was a great man!
Love,
Susan Muth Anderson

Tom and I send our sincere sympathy to Pat and the rest of the family. We didn't get to spend much time with Gary, but we spent enough to appreciate his intelligence and kind, caring ways. He certainly lived a good life and leaves many memories that we know you all will cherish. Rip Gary.

So sorry for your loss, but I hope the family takes pride in a life well lived. I always looked forward to trips with Gary. I learned quickly to take extra $$ because he did, indeed, like good food and wine. Some of those layovers are still fresh in my mind. Not only a good pilot, but a good Captain who looked out for his crew. A real gentleman!

Dear Pat and family:
I was so truly saddened to learn of Gary's passing. I have wonderful memories of him setting tables up and helping me with garden tours. I also so enjoyed speaking with him about his military service and his work. It was such an honor to know him a little. I send you my deepest sympathy and prayers and I know that God walks beside him and you are on the other side holding his hand.
Most sincerely,
Penny Rand

To Gary's Family: In March 2015 I traveled from Florida for an appointment with a UNC surgeon in Hillsboro, and we stopped at a grocery store there in Hillsboro prior to the medical appointment for a quick lunch. As I stood in the checkout line thinking of the appointment, a voice came nearby saying "Alan Zink - VR-3"!!
I was startled and turned around to see this familiar face, but of course did not have the instant recall of the fellow who stuck out his hand and said "Gary Lopp - VR-3." We went outside to the picnic tables and chatted through our lunch, reminiscing about our days in VR-3 when he was a pilot and I was the chief navigator.
I am so glad for his great recall, his warm and friendly manner and for having seen him then, in that chance meeting. If he knew about the PD, he never mentioned it.
Thank you Gary. Your tour of duty on this earth is over. RIP. Day is done!

Dear Pat and Gary's Family,
Larry and I send all of you our sincere prayers for peace and comfort at this time. Gary was a special friend of ours. He spoke often of all his family members and how much he loved them. We know he died in peace knowing that he was going to be with his heavenly father. God bless you all as you face the future without his presence here on earth.

I grew to love Mr.Lopp for the period of time that he was in my care. So glad I got the honor of meeting such a wonderful man. He would always want to tell me what his grand daughter had been up to and show me jokes he had on his cell phone. My deepest sympathies to the family.
Sincerely,
Nurse Kayla
