Akron, Ohio native, Colleen Handley Milner, 86, who lived at 300 West Arbor Ave. Port St. Lucie, FL died Saturday April 28, 2018 while residing at Seasons at Southpoint in Durham for her last five months.
Retired Mrs. Colleen Milner had been a Business Teacher at Fort Pierce Central High School in Fort Pierce, FL for 27 years of teaching. She received her Bachelors’s Degree at Bowling Green State University and her Master’s Degree at Florida State University.
While residing in Port St. Lucie, FL; Colleen was active in Fort Pierce First Presbyterian Church (and later Port St. Lucie First Presbyterian
Church) and the Fort Pierce Women’s Club.
She was born May 1, 1931 in Akron, Ohio. She was the daughter of Phyllis Andrew and Martin Handley. Survivors include her husband, James Milner whom she was married to for 53 years; her son John Milner; two granddaughters, Kate Milner and Megan Milner; her brother - Martin Handley (Kathleen) of Menomonee Falls, WI, nephew - Brian Handley (Lisa) & their family, niece - Jennifer Beyer (Steve) & their family; her sister – Doreen Handley Keen of Lake Wales, FL, nephew - Loren Joe Keen & niece- Bonnie Jean Keen & 2 Grand sons & 7 Great-Grand children
Funeral services will be held at Walker’s Funeral home - Hillsborough, NC in a private ceremony.
In lieu of sending flowers, please send donations to Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell. Hospice provided care to Colleen Milner during her last months.
