Obituary of Hazel Mae Thornburg

Mrs. Hazel Mae Powell Thornburg, 97 of Graham, North Carolina died on May 17, 2018 at her residence.  Hazel was born in Iredell County, North Carolina to the late Thomas Frank and Maude Hayes Powell. She was fortunate to have lived a long life, loving her family, gardening and enjoying life.  Hazel retired from Drexel Heritage in High Point. She was also preceded in death by nine brothers and two sisters and dog Molly

Survivors include three daughters, Faye Blair of Graham, Swannie Dexter and husband Robbie of Oak Ridge NC and Flonnie Brown and husband Dewey, Jr. of Graham. The loving nanny of  five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Also she is survived by her loving dog Quain.

A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Walker's Funeral Home of Mebane Chapel with Rev. MJ Tucci officiating.  Interment followed in the Graham Memorial Park.  

We were blessed to of had her as a mom all these years. In return, we gave her the loving care she deserved till the end. Till we see her agian.

In lieu of flowers donations should be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215 or to St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
