Obituary of Gary Thomas Johnson

Gary Thomas Johnson, 46 of Hillsborough died on April 3, 2018. 

He was born on February 11, 1972 in Orange County, North Carolina and was the son of Paul Wesley Johnson and Virginia Ann Morris.  His father and grandparents Johnny and Margaret Clayton and John William and Martha Johnson preceded him in death. 

Gary attended Orange County Schools and was a graduate of Orange High.  He at one time worked driving a truck across the country.  Gary had an accident that happened when he was cutting a tree that fell upon him causing him to become disabled and limiting his working ability to work at anything full time.  He helped out at Chapman's after getting hurt and was an equipment operator.  Gary enjoyed the outdoors and working with the Wounded Warrior project and helping other people first, even before himself.  But most important of all were his kids and spending time with them, that was one of his all time favorite things. Most of all, his best friend Lamar Chapman and his children, especially Kaylee were his pride and joy.

In addition to his mother, Gary is survived by his daughter Kayle Ruth Johnson, step children Wesley and Gracie, brother Rick Johnson and fiancée Lynn and other extended family members.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday April 10, 2018 at the Caldwell Community Building 7607 NC-157, Rougemont, NC 27572 starting at 2:00 PM with Pastor Ron Harris officiating.  A visitation followed the memorial service at the residence of his mother Virginia Morris at 2518 Bushy Cook Road Efland NC 27243.
