Obituary of Sylvia Sparrow Riley

Sylvia Sparrow Riley died on January 15, 2014 from an extended illness. She was the daughter of Carl and Viola Sparrow of Chapel Hill. She was a native of Chapel Hill and retired from UNC School of Dentistry. Sylvia was a lifelong member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and with her passion and love of music she sang in the choir for many years. Surviving are her husband Jesse Riley; daughters Carla Riley Horner and her husband Frank, Carol Riley Campbell and her husband Mike; grandsons Randall Horner and his wife Jessica, Jared Campbell and his wife Shannan; great grandson Conner Horner and Sylvia's sister Grace Lowdermilk. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 11:00AM at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with a visitation at Walker's Funeral Home in Chapel Hill on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 7:00PM to 9:00PM.
