CHAPEL HILL Professor Anthony George LoRé died on his 92nd birthday, February 21, 2014. He was the son of Salvatore and Carolina LoRé, deceased, of Cleveland, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and returned to L.S.U. to complete his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Romance Languages. After teaching in California for a few years, he came to UNC Chapel Hill to pursue his PhD in Romance Languages, which was granted in 1965. Professor LoRé spent many years at UNC CH teaching Spanish, French, and Teaching Methodology and the last 15 of his pre-retirement years teaching the Cervantes novel, Don Quixote de la Mancha in English to upper-level undergraduate students. He published a great deal to do with the Quixote. After retirement from UNC CH in 1992, Professor LoRé pursued another passion; he became quite a bonsai appreciator and grew many of the wonderful little trees. Tony was predeceased by his son Christopher; he is survived by his wife Page M. LoRé, children, Anthony C. LoRé, Caroline LoRé Brewer and husband Tim and grandchild Isla Page Brewer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Inter-Faith Council For Social Services 110 W. Main St., Carrboro, N.C. 27510. Online Condolences may be sent to www.walkersfuneralservice.com.
