Stacy Lynn Murdy Blank
Stacy Lynn Murdy Blank, age 42, passed away surrounded by family and friends at N.C. Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. She was born June 19, 1971, in Centerville, Iowa, to Jim and Elaine (Moore) Murdy and was the older of two children. Graduating from high school as a National Honor Society member, Stacy attended Plymouth State College in New Hampshire, and went on to receive her CPA license at Ohio's Franklin University, passing the exam on her first attempt—a rarity in light of its typical 4% initial pass rate.
She was employed as a controller for Buckner Companies and served on its leadership team. At Buckner, she displayed an unwavering commitment to hard work, integrity, and to the employee relationships she built there. The all-encompassing embrace of Stacy's love had—and still has—at its center her two young daughters, Lille and Kaidyn. They were Stacy's "Keep a-goin'!" girls, her dinner-time whistle for them in the neighborhood a wondrous force to behold. The immense happiness of such love is the source of our collective sorrow now. We remember Stacy as mother, inseparable soul mate to Mark, eternally game runner and triathlete, and always the one whose words rained with rollicking and loving irreverence upon the hearts of her family and closest friends. Stacy knew what writer Malcolm Lowry knew: No se puede vivir sin amar. You cannot live without loving.
She is survived by her children, Lille and Kaidyn; former spouse and father of her children, Jason Blank of Chapel Hill; life partner, Mark MeHaffey of Chapel Hill; parents, Jim and Elaine Murdy of Navarre, Florida; brother, Kevin Murdy and his life partner, Kristen Lupola of Navarre, Florida; nephew, Brendan Murdy; niece, Autumn Fields; and Mark MeHaffey's children Shuler and Dillie MeHaffey, and Katy (MeHaffey) Wells.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Stacy touched are invited to St. Mark's Church, 1230 St. Mark's Church Road, Burlington, NC, on Saturday, May 3, 2014. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.; funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 12 p.m., Pastor Bob Disher officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The Stacy Blank Children's Trust Fund, c/o Buckner Companies, 4732 N. Carolina 54, Graham, NC 27253.
