Obituary of Vernon Ricky Worley

Vernon Ricky Worley, age 61, died on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at UNC Hospice House in Chatham County. Vernon was born on October 11, 1955 to Vernon and Helen B. Worley in Wilson, North Carolina. Vernon and his family moved to Chapel Hill when he was four years old and he graduated from Chapel Hill high school. Mr. Worley was a hard worker. He was first employed by Etna, but after he was married, Vernon worked at a local dairy farm for most of his life. Eventually, Mr. Worley became the foreman for the Alamance Weatherization Program that helped to repair and renovate many homes in Alamance County. Mr. Worley was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Chapel Hill. When not hard at work, Vernon loved coon hunting and horseback riding. He enjoyed dancing, entertaining friends and sitting out under the shade tree at his house. Survivors include his mother and father, Helen B. and Vernon Worley from Chapel Hill; one daughter, Tracy W. Gould from Chapel Hill; one son, Chris Worley from Mebane; three grandchildren, Justin Worley, Ashley Gould and Colton Worley; one sister, Glenda Turner (Edward); one brother, Scott Worley and wife Donna two nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his companion Rhonda Blalock and his nephew Eric Turner. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Walker's Funeral Home in Hillsborough with a visitation beginning at 1:00PM. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
