Susan, I cannot begin to share with you all of the memories I have of Bill. He was a best friend along with David Siever during our growing up years at Mark Twain Elementary, Pershing Jr. High and through continued relations when he went to a private High School at St. Johns in Houston. We had close family relation ties. His Mom and Dad were great. His Mom was a no-nonsense lady, very outspoken and put with no garbage from our goofiness. His Dad, of course was a chemical company executive, and very business like. Bill, Pat Harkins and I were in the same Cub Scout troop. As my Mom describes him, he was a "pistol". Bill was one of the smartest people I have ever known. He had a funny personality that cracked me up. Always seemed to get into some kind of trouble because of his different approach to things. Loved his Mom. There are a lot of stories I wish I could have relived with Bill. He seemed to have disappeared after college. You would appreciate some of the stories. Glad he found you and enjoyed life in North Carolina. In the 80s I did a lot of work in Charlotte, Roxsboro, Raleign?, High Point and gained a great appreciation of the state. Had no clue why he would have moved from the Chicago life to small town North Carolina. But now I know. It was you. May you have many blessings for being the savior for my friend Bill.
