After a courageous and hard-fought battle with ovarian cancer, Linda Louis Richardson, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 9th 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was 55. She is survived by her husband, Craig, and her two children Will and Carly, Chapel Hill, North Carolina; her parents Bill and Sally Louis, Sun City Center, Florida; sister Laurie Louis deVilla, husband Dean, and children Sean and Lauren, Lima Peru; mother-in-law Libby Richardson, sister-in-law Susan Renard, husband Bruce and son Cutler, Jacksonville, Florida; and many cousins and other relatives in Jacksonville, Florida, and Ohio. Linda was valedictorian of her graduating class at Riverview High School in Sarasota, Florida, an honors graduate of the school of Pharmacy at the University of Florida, and received her Pharm. D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She worked as a hospital pharmacist her entire career, caring for others. She worked at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Florida from 1982-1996; and for the past 18 years at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, where she served as a Clinical Specialist in the Medicine Intensive Care Unit as well as in a variety of medicine specialty areas. Recently she was appointed Lead Pharmacist for the Medicine Division. Linda also held an appointment as an Adjunct Professor at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. During her career at UNC Hospitals she touched many lives as a practicing clinical pharmacist and clinical pharmacy educator working with numerous pharmacy students, residents, nurses, and physicians in her effort to teach others and optimize patient care. She was a longtime resident of Southern Village in Chapel Hill; a member of Christ United Methodist Church where she has served as a Sunday School teacher and as an active parent supporter of the cub scout troop sponsored by the church. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, and sister, and is loved dearly by her family. A memorial service celebrating Linda's life will be held in Chapel Hill at Christ United Methodist Church (Southern Village), on June 21, at 10:30am. In-lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made in honor of Linda Louis Richardson for a pharmacy student scholarship to the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy Foundation, 194 Finley Golf Course Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27517.
