Obituary of Roger Hayes Pope

Efland - Mr. Roger "Punk" Hayes Pope, Sr. died Sunday, July 20, 2014, in his home. He was born in Durham but lived in Efland all his life. He graduated from Orange High School in the Class of 1965. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam era. He retired from Teleflex. "If it was broken he could fix it." He cared much for his family and left behind shoes that cannot be filled. Surviving are his daughter, Chrissy P. Moore (Dennis), Efland, his son, Roger H. Pope, Jr. (Jodi), Efland, five grandchildren: Chelsie Sykes Matherly (Nic), Burlington, Gracelyn Pope, Efland, Avery Pope, Efland, Daniel Moore, Efland, and Maddie Belle Pope, Efland. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Fannie Pope, his wife of 45 years Shirley, and his brother Ronnie. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday in Efland United Methodist Church by the Rev. Ken McLean and Rev. Don Pegg. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the burial in the church fellowship hall and at other times at his home.
