Obituary of Shelton Reid Durham

"Shelton Reid Durham, born 1-23-1947, passed away on July 21, 2014. Shelton was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Reid Durham and Stella Gwendolyn Marshall Black Durham (Gwen Durham). Shelton is survived by many cousins. Shelton was born and raised in Carrboro, NC on Oak Avenue. He was an avid fan of UNC-Chapel Hill, Ford Mustangs, motorcycles and anything patriotic. He enjoyed being a member of the Mustang Club of America for many years. He loved the beach and just walking along the shore for hours. Shelton was a long time resident of Crescent Green Assisted Living in Carrboro, NC. He was a gentle soul, with the patience of Job, who will be missed by family and many friends. A special thank you to Shelton's friend and mentor, Steve Lackey. Steve's friendship and guidance gave Shelton strength, confidence and peace of mind. A graveside service will be performed at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, 2791 Jones Ferry Rd, Pittsboro, NC 27312, on Thursday at 4PM. The family requests no flowers, but donations may be made Cedar Grove United Methodist Church fund to save the church."
