Born in 1930 in Huntington, WV, she was the daughter of Phillip Pendleton Gibson and Morrell Jones Gibson. She graduated from Westhampton College of the University of Richmond in 1952. Mrs. Hill was the widow of George Watts Hill, Sr. of Durham and Chapel Hill. She was predeceased by her parents and by her brother Phillip, Jr. She is survived by three children from her first marriage: John Hutchison (Robin) of Chapel Hill, Anne Adams (Lee) of Pittsboro and Margaret Hart (Eric) of Hickory, NC. She was also very privileged to be involved with successfully lobbying the North Carolina legislature to provide funding for mammogram screening programs for women in need. The family would like to recognize and thank all those who cared for Mrs. Hill throughout her last years particularly her primary doctors, Drs. Patrick Guiteras and Claude (Skip) Burton.
