Obituary of Hal Benard Brafford

-Chapel Hill- Hal Benard Brafford, 90 years of age, passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, surrounded by his family. Hal was born in Mecklenburg County to the late A.B. Brafford and Bessie Mae Brafford. He married Nell E. Sherrer on Oct. 18, 1947. Hal served proudly in the US Army alongside his twin brother during WWII. He was District Manager of Public Service of NC for 29 years in Chapel Hill. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to Nell his wife of 67 years, he is survived by his daughter Carolyn Brafford, his son Brad and wife Wanda, daughter Barbara and husband Jeff. His grandchildren Lauren and Matt Umbarger, Chris, Kathryn and Connor Rubish. Additional family include his twin brother Ned and Josie Brafford in Florida, Inez Brafford and her late husband Bob Brafford and late sister Hazel Clark along with many beloved nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. Services include a visitation on Friday evening at Walker's Funeral Home in Chapel Hill from 6:00PM to 8:00PM and Saturday at Carrboro United Methodist Church at 11:00AM followed by a graveside service at Westwood Cemetery.
