Obituary of Kathan McKown Kylberg

Kathan McKown Kylberg, born July 12, 1923 in Essex County, New Jersey passed away November 29, 2014 at Croasdaile Village Retirement Center in Durham, NC. Kathy was the widow of Robert C. Kylberg and is survived by her three daughters and their families: Karin and Jeffrey Foarde of Chapel Hill, NC; Heidi and Raymond Zogorski of Edmonds, WA; and Kristine and Phillip Trumbo of Bothell, WA; grandchildren Jennifer Faurote and her husband, Michael of High Point, NC; Jeffrey Foarde Jr. and his wife, Katherine Didow of Bethesda, MD; and Mikhail Zogorski , Anjana Trumbo and Leela Trumbo; great-grandchildren Mitchell Faurote and Madeline Faurote.

Kathy enjoyed a 25 year marriage to Robert full of love and harmony, sadly shortened by his tragic death in 1974. Her husband's engineering fascinated her and they most often took vacations to great civil engineering projects. An astute woman, she learned to understand the financial world in order to maintain her independence. Kathy volunteered for many years at numerous hospitals including UNC Hospitals and the American Red Cross. A lover of the arts and sports, she enjoyed theatre, swimming, and tennis in particular. She always rooted for players to do their best and show good sportsmanship above winning.

A celebration of her life will be held Weds. December 3, 2014 at University United Methodist Church, 150 East Franklin St. Chapel Hill, NC. Memorial gifts to the church are requested in lieu of flowers.
