Obituary of Donald Macmillan

Donald Macmillan, 91, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina (formerly of Corning, NY) passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2015.
Born in Bellshill, Scotland on June 25, 1923, he was the son of Robert and Jean Macmillan. Don was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ronald, Robert, William and sister Marylin Dillon.
In June 1950, he married Theresa Zupancic who survives. Don is also survived by sons Dr. Bruce (Celine) Macmillan of California, Dr. Douglas (Laural) Macmillan of North Carolina, and daughter Patricia (David) Butler of Colorado, grandchildren Sarah Jones of Colorado, Madeline and William Macmillan of North Carolina, Kira and Liam Macmillan of California and two great-grandchildren, Alexander and Logan Jones of Colorado and several nieces and nephews.
He was a Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was a prisoner of war in Germany. After the war, Don graduated from the University of Illinois as an Electrical Engineer. Upon graduation, Don worked for and retired from Corning Glass Works as a Sales Engineer.
Don, "Mac", was an avid golfer and Illinois Jr. Golf Champion. He continued to play at the Corning Country Club for many decades and enjoyed skiing with friends and family well into his 80s.
Burial will take place in Joliet, Illinois.
