I’m saddened to hear of Dr Jackson’s passing. I’ve been thinking a lot about him in the past week because the American History class I took with him at NCSU was absolutely transformational in my understanding of Black history. I’ll never forget him.

I remember the conversations Walter and I had about history, current events, Swedish stuff, and lots of things, at the Vasa and FOS events that we both attended. I can't express how terrible this death was; I think it was an awful tragedy and I can't even imagine how his family must feel. I am sending my thoughts to his lovely wife and charming daughter, and I hope we will see them again at many Vasa meetings in the future, at least at the Christmas parties. I am thinking of you now and will be doing so for several days and weeks. Margareta Thompson
