TO THE CHARLES SNIPES FAMILY: OVER THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS WE HAVE ENJOYED THE FRIENDSHIP OF CHARLES.WE HAVE TRAVELED MANY MILES WITH THE SOIL AND WATER GROUP ACROSS THE STATE OF N.C. AND THROUGHOUT MANY OTHER STATES. WE ARE SO PROUD TO CALL HIM OUR FRIEND. HE WAS ALWAYS SUCH A GENTLEMAN, VERY CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS AND HAD A GREAT LOVE FOR OUR ENVIRONMENT AND ITS FUTURE. Susan, and Karen, Iam very sorry to learn of your loss. Charles and his brother were very good friends of my late father Ernest Hornbuckle. He was the Sanitarian Supervisor of Milk Sanitation for the Health Departmrnt in Durham. I remember many visits to the farm with daddy for inspections, and on Wednesday afternooons their weekly rook game at Mr. Lloyds store on the corner. Their friendship continued after daddys retirement and both were die hard TAR HEEL FANS.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I cherished both Francis & Charles. There has never been anyone in my family who meant as much to me. Mama loved them immensely as you know, and you all. That wasn't often her position! I remember her telling me about Charles coming by to pick her up and they'd go off to Mebane. I think they bought toilet paper in bulk!!! My heart breaks that what we have of so many beloved is memory based. But thanking God we had them to form these loving memories. My most sincere sympathies to you all. You've taken such kind and loving care of all of your family. What a legacy. They live in our hearts, wrapped around the hurt of missing them.
