Obituary of William Fulton Dodson

William Fulton Dodson, 82, of Hillsborough passed away March 25th, 2015 at Brookshire Nursing Center. Born in Orange County, April 4, 1932, he was the son of the late Marshall Duke Dodson and Lillie Catherine Pickett Dodson, and was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Mae Dodson, and an infant sister, Callie Dodson. William was a graduate of Hillsboro High School. He was a hard working man, often working two jobs, which included Whites' Furniture Factory, Couch's Gulf and Pilot Freight Lines. He worked for over 20 years and retired from AT&T/Lucent Technologies in Burlington, NC, where he was a Security Guard and Representative for his fellow workers in the Union. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Doris Christine Gates Dodson. He is also survived by a daughter and two sons, Catherine Christine Dodson Bivins (Douglas), James William Dodson (Pamela), and John Thomas Dodson (Kimberly); five grandchildren, Paula Renee Rasberry Hamilton (Todd), Andrew Douglas Bivins (Naomi), Lisa Marie Dodson Stevens (Tyler), Mary Christine Dodson Sherlin (Charles), Mathew Brent Dodson (Mara). Ten great grandchildren include; Ella, Kathryn, Timothy, Westan, Shelby, Mason, Molly, Emily, Brennan, and Peyton. Visitation will be at Walker's Funeral Home in Hillsborough on Friday, March 27th from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm. The funeral will be in the Chapel at Walker's on Saturday, March 28th, at 2pm with Pastor Daniel Gregory, officiating. Burial will follow at the Hillsborough Town Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite charity. Condolences may be made through the website www.walkersfuneralservice.com. We would like to thank all family and friends for prayers, visits, food and constant support during the time of declining health of William. We would also like to express our deepest appreciation to Brookshire Nursing Center and to Duke Hospice for their professionalism, kindness and assistance.
