Elizabeth reached out to me as a neighbor way back in early 1976 when my husband and I moved across the street from her in Carrboro. One afternoon a sofa bed was delivered to our duplex while we were at work. Later that day when Elizabeth saw my husband struggling to get it into the house, she sent Odell over to help him out. That started our friendship, which continued until she moved to Wisconsin a couple of years ago. Mostly I will remember Elizabeth for extending kindness to a stranger, offering delicious cakes she baked and sharing her flowers from her garden. I am glad that I got to know her, and will miss her. My condolences to you, Kim and Roberta.
