Obituary of Dorothy Carroll Scarlett

Dorothy Carroll Scarlett, 92, born Aug. 4, 1922 passed away Thursday July 30, 2015. She was born in Orange County and attended Orange County schools. She was a long time active member and Sunday school teacher at the Hillsborough Wesleyan Church. She retired from the Orange County Department of Social Services in 1988 after 30+ years of service. After retirement she volunteered at Duke Eye Center and spent time with her family. She also served for several years as the Secretary for Hillsborough United Methodist Church. Her strong Christian faith and knowledge of the Bible were an inspiration to others who knew her. On Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4, family and friends will be at the home place on 221 W. Margaret Lane, Hillsborough, NC.
She was predeceased by her parents Georgia Berta Berry Carroll and Julian Cecil Carroll Sr., her husband Ervin Wesley Scarlett Sr., three sisters: Luke Botsford, Lib Robinson and Berta Minnis, five brothers: Robert Carroll, Harold Carroll, Julian Carroll, Earl Carroll and Edward Carroll. Surviving are her two sons, Ervin Wesley Scarlett Jr. and wife Sandy Scarlett and Timothy Page Scarlett and wife Frances Scarlett, four granddaughters, seven great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
Visitation will be held at 1 PM and funeral services at 2 PM on Monday, Aug. 3, at Walker's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Odell Link and Rev. Paige Ann Scarlett Miller conducting the services. Burial will be in the Hillsborough Town Cemetery.
