Obituary of Donna Marie Allgood

Donna Cooke Allgood, 66, of Carrboro, NC, died Thursday, September 3, 2015, at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, NC. She was born January 24, 1949 in Raleigh, NC to the late Silas G. Cooke and Virginia Newton Cooke. Donna graduated from Needham Broughton High School in Raleigh and attended Methodist College in Fayetteville. After completing her education, she spent her entire career in the real estate field. She held a North Carolina license as a Real Estate Broker and, most recently, served as Administrative Assistant for Coldwell Banker Howard Perry & Walston in Chapel Hill. A member of Hillsong Church, formerly Carrboro Baptist Church, Donna has served in various capacities for the past 36 years. She served as pianist, organist, handbell choir director, deacon, elder and, most recently, financial secretary. Donna was predeceased by her father, Silas G. Cooke. She is survived by her mother, Virginia Newton Cooke of Danville, VA; sister, Connie Cooke of Virginia Beach, VA; brother, Philip Cooke and wife, Jennifer, of Lynchburg, VA; two nephews, Bailey Harris and Grayson Cooke, and one niece, Madeline Cooke, all of Lynchburg, VA. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Robert Tennant and Rev. Heather Folliard at 11 am, Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at Hillsong Church, 201 Culbreth Road, Chapel Hill, NC with burial at 2:30 pm at Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville, VA, with Rev. Forest Gale officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the funeral from 10 - 11 am. Flowers are acceptable or contributions may be made in her memory to Hillsong Church.
