All my most sincere condolences to the family, her son and her daughter that I have not met but have heard about so many times and for so many years. I was planning to have dinner with Diane on arrival in CH next week. Diane's spirit is strong. Death will not kill her and she will continue to be a rebel, a fighter among us and an inspiration. I will always remember our long conversations late at night on the phone, our meetings in Saint Germain and our views on the world. I am sure that she will be missed by many students. I have rarely seen such patience and true care for students. RIP Diane. I miss you.

Diane was such an inspiration to me. She taught me so much about so many things--literature, academia, standing up for what you believe in, and having a healthy contempt for convention. Because of her, I'm a better person and a better professor. The world has lost an amazing person and a brilliant mind, but in her time on this planet, she made it a much better place.

I can't believe Diane Leonard is not among us any longer! It was always so much fun to talk with her when she would go for her walks in the neighborhood and stop for a few minutes to chat. She would share bits of information about her family and inquire about those in our family. The last few days she spent working out at Meadowmont were a testament for her will to increase her strength and get better. As we worked out side by side she would talk about her need to help Kevin more and how much she loved Kim and Kevin. We worked out together only for a few weeks but, long enough that the days she would be absent, our eyes would be roaming the room trying to find her. Her face would always light up when we found her. She was just that type of person - a person who could light up those she encountered. Her name will certainly be etched forever in this neighborhood.
