CHAPEL HILL Marion J Brooks, 85, loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend died July 17, 2013 at Carolina Point nursing home after a long illness. Mrs. Brooks was born November 23, 1927 in Lansing, Michigan. She was a graduate of Michigan State University. She married Wally Brooks on March 3, 1951. They raised their family in Ossining, NY and moved to Chapel Hill, NC in 1986 after Wally retired from IBM. Mrs. Brooks enjoyed painting, playing bridge, photography, spending time with her family and was an avid golfer. She loved cats and owned them for most of her life. She was especially fond of Siamese cats. She was an active member of University United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter Donna Hrebik of Milford, CT, her son David Brooks and daughter-in-law Deanna Brooks of Chapel Hill, NC; her Grandchildren Jennifer Hrebik, Anthony Brooks and Amanda Brooks, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by her parents Carl and Geneva (Kirk) Hess, her sister Lois Britton, her brother-in-law Robert Britton, her husband Waldo E Brooks Jr. and a daughter Barbara Brooks. Services will be held on Saturday July 20th at the University United Methodist Church, visitation will be at 1pm and service will be at 2pm and reception will be held after. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery.
