Obituary of Joan Meyers

Joan Elizabeth Meyers passed peacefully in her Hillsborough home on August 28^th, 2023 at the age of 86, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born in Northport, New York on July 13^th, 1937. She spent most of her adult life in Huntington, New York where she married George Meyers. She lived in Lakeland, Florida before retiring to North Carolina. Joan attended CW Post College where she obtained a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s in Library Sciences. She worked as a Director of Job Recruitment at Polk County Association for Handicapped Citizens. Joan was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in Centerport, New York and later a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Hillsborough, NC where she served as an ecumenical minister. She is survived by her children, Tracy, Lauren, Keith, and his wife, Amy. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Katy, her husband Zach, Nick, and Gena. The family requests donations be sent to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or North Shore Animal League. Visitation will be at Walker’s Funeral Home in Hillsborough on Thursday August 31^st, 2023, from 6-8pm. The funeral will be held in September— details to follow.
