Obituary of Kermit Melvin Lloyd

Kermit M. Lloyd, 86, passed away peacefully on June 24th at his home in Mebane, NC of complications associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Kermit was born in Chapel Hill NC to Glenn and Nannie Lloyd. He graduated from Chapel Hill High School, then served proudly as a meteorologist with the US. Air Force from 1957-61. He had various businesses over the years, including Carolina TV and Appliance and KM Lloyd General Merchandise, and served as Orange County Tax Supervisor for many years, where he delighted many with his appearance in the dunking booth at Hillsborough Hog Days.  He had many hobbies, particularly antiques. He loved going to auctions, buying and selling antiques.

 

He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 65 years Nancy Jane Carson Lloyd, daughter Sarah Ann Lloyd Gains (Steve), sons Kermit Alvin Lloyd (Alisa Joy Roberts Lloyd) and Thomas Wilson Lloyd, grandchildren Allison Kathleen Gains Wilkes and spouse Christopher Wilkes (great grandchildren Christopher Jonathan aka CJ and Emily Alexandra) and granddaughter Ashley Elizabeth Gains.

 

A memorial service will be held at Antioch Baptist Church on Saturday, September 23 at 2 pm.
