Obituary of Deanna Hodge Moore

Please share a memory of Deanna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On the morning of May 3, 2024, Deanna Hodge Moore passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family.

Born in January 1970 in the Appalachian region of Kentucky, she grew up in Durham, North Carolina and become a devoted Tar Heel basketball fan.  She obtained her bachelor’s degree in business management from UNC-Chapel Hill.  That educational accomplishment served as the foundation for a distinguished career in the insurance industry where Deanna worked for more than 30 years at what is now Transamerica Premier Life Insurance Company; her professional service was marked by dedication, expertise, and success having passed every certification and recertification exam on the first assessment.

Away from her profession, Deanna’s life was shaped by her family and faith.  As a faithful and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Deanna served as the President of her ward’s primary, in the Relief Society presidency, and as a teacher for both the primary children and adult Sunday School.  Her love for teaching the children and helping them develop faith in Christ strengthened her own testimony and everyone around her.  In addition to her devotion to the Gospel and her personal faith, Deanna’s loving dedication to family leaves an indelible mark on her surviving family and friends.  Married on February 19, 1993 to Eldon Moore, Deanna was the greatest wife and truly beloved, particularly for her patience and kindness.  Deanna was blessed to become the mother to their daughter Nova.  Raising Nova was perhaps Deanna’s greatest and proudest accomplishment; she left this life proud of Nova’s strength, intellect, and personal character.

Deanna was preceded in death by her mother, Martha AlleneHodge.  She is survived by her husband, Eldon Moore; her daughter, Nova Moore; her siblings Monica Shirley, Ricky Shirley, and Brian Hodge; and other family throughout Kentucky, Virginia, and North Carolina.

Services for Deanna will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at the Mebane Ward Building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (150 Ashbury Blvd, Mebane, NC 27302).  Viewing from 9-10:45am in the Relief Society Room.  Funeral service from 11am-12pm in the chapel.  Lunch for the familyand private graveside service will follow.

Flowers are welcome (Deanna had an affinity for carnations); however, in lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints General Fund or Humanitarian Aid Fund through donate.churchofjesuschrist.org. Funds contributed to the General Fund are used to support a variety of programs including genealogy programs and The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square; funds contributed to the Humanitarian Aid Fund are used for projects worldwide including emergency response, vision care, and maternal/newborn care.

Walker's Funeral Home of Mebane is assisting the Moore family.
