Obituary of Albert Cunningham Moore

Albert Cunningham Moore died Thursday, February 4, 2016, at The Cedars of Chapel Hill, where he lived with his wife, Anne Bonynge Moore, who died in 2009.
He was born May 31, 1931, in Miami, FL, grew up in Sumter, SC, and was a graduate of Miami H. S. He received a B.A. in Political Science from UNC-Chapel Hill, was President of Chi Phi Fraternity, served as LT. J.G., U.S. Navy, and earned his law degree at UVA in 1959. Albert practiced law at White & Case, and Studebaker-Worthington in NYC, and served as General Counsel of Crum & Forster Insurance Co. in Morristown, NJ. While residing in Madison, NJ, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and served on the Board of The NJ Shakespeare Festival. Albert and Anne retired to DeBordieu, SC in 1987, and moved to The Cedars of Chapel Hill in 2007.
He is survived by daughters Emily Moore French, Barbara Moore Cheek, Catherine Moore Wells; and six grandchildren: Miles Walton, Stuart Walton, Katherine French, Malcolm Wells, Ian Wells, and Genevieve French. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Moore McElveen. He was much beloved by family and friends.
A service at The Cedars will be announced. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Morehead-Cain Merit Scholarship Fund at UNC-Chapel Hill.
