Obituary of John Walter Knight

Hillsborough, NC - John Walter Knight Jr (J.W.), 84, went home to be with the Lord and his wife on May 27, 2016, in the comfort of his home. He was born in Hillsborough to John Walter Knight, Sr. and Mary Hargett Knight on May 5th, 1932. He married his wife, Dixie King Knight, on September 27th, 1952. In his early years, he drove a logging truck for his mother's successful logging business. He also worked for Ray's electric company, which is how he got started in the heating and air business. He started Knight's Heating and Air in the early 1960's and remained the owner/operator of the business until his death. He loved Nascar, Old western movies and most of all, Knight's Heating and Air. He was a devoted husband amd loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is preceeded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Dixie King Knight, and his father John Walter Knight, Sr and his mother, Mary Hargett Knight. His memory will live on through his children, Randy A. Knight and his wife Barbara B. Knight, Robbie D. Knight and his wife, Susan C. Knight, and his grandchildren, Cortney Knight, Lindsey Covington and her husband Undraus Covington, Christian Knight and John David Knight, 5 great-grandchildren, his brother, Graham Knight and his sister, Susan K. Johnson. The family is accepting visitors at Walker's Funeral Home on Monday, May 30th from 6pm-8pm. The funeral will be held at Fairview Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 31st at 11:00am with the Reverend Hoyt Shuford officiating. Interment immediately following at Hillsborough Town Cemetery.
