Obituary of Kuei Lan Su

In Memory of Kuei-Lan Su "Chris" October 19, 1955 - August 15, 2016 Kuei-Lan Su, aka "Chris," was born in Taiwan, Republic of China and moved to Brazil at age nine with her family in 1964. She was the fourth child of Su Ching Hsing and Su Li Kuei Hua (both in-memoriam). She attended high school in Mogi das Cruzes, a suburban city near São Paulo, Brazil and in 1989, she married Chang Sing Yin in Los Angeles, CA. She completed undergraduate studies in mathematics in São Paulo, Brazil and post-graduate studies in accounting at UCLA. She worked as a controller at Kehillat Israel in Pacific Palisades, CA from 1993-2012 and later as the Treasurer of the Soroptimist International at the Whittier Chapter, CA, a women's volunteer organization with a mission to improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world. She was admired for her generosity, integrity, beauty, and elegance, but also for her blunt honesty and humorous unfiltered comments that would make anyone cry from laughing so hard. She was passionate about great food as well as going to casinos, hence, she displayed an avid enjoyment for great eateries and making numerous trips to Las Vegas, NV, which were much part of her life until her cancer diagnosis in August 2015. Chris decided in early July of 2016 to spend the remaining months of her life in Chapel Hill, NC where her youngest sister, Su Pi Cartmell, and family lives. Not only was she a beloved sister of Su Cartmell, but also of Su Kuei Yun Christo and Su Kuei Hsiang Orii (both residing in Brazil), and will be deeply missed by her nieces, Christine Routh, Erika Day and Renée Ackley, and brother-in-law, Michael Cartmell. Her lively spirit is deeply loved and missed by all her family and friends in the US and abroad. Now she is gazing in the loving eyes of our Lord and Savior, Jesus. A memorial service will be held at Walker's Funeral Home on Friday, August 19th 2016 at 6:30 PM.
