Obituary of Vivian Thompson Gomba

Vivian Thompson Gomba 84, of Severna Park Maryland, passed away December 23, 2016 in Hillsborough North Carolina. Vivian was born June 9th, 1932 in Asbury Park, New Jersey and was the only child of Francis and Stanley Thompson. She went on to earn a bachelor's degree at Mount Clair State Teachers College. Later, she received her Master Degree in Library Science from the University of Maryland. She met her husband while she attended college and they were married on April 16th 1955. They moved to Annapolis, Maryland when her husband had accepted a job as a professor at the U.S. Naval Academy. Vivian enjoyed an active social life and was involved in garden and bridge clubs. She and her husband attended every home Navy football game for over 30 years. While raising her children, she had career as an elementary school librarian. Vivian was a caring mother to her children, devout catholic, and wonderful at celebrating holidays. She also loved the ocean.
Vivian is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Stanley Thompson and her beloved Aunt Via.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Gomba; daughters, Elizabeth and Katie; her son, Christopher, and grandchildren; Will, Jolan, and Zoe.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hospice of Alamance Co. and to the staff of The Carillon of Hillsborough, NC for their support in her final days.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday January 1, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the chapel in Walker's Funeral home 204 N. Churton Street, Hillsborough, NC.
