Obituary of Harold Cleveland Wright

Please share a memory of Harold to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
HAROLD CLEVELAND WRIGHT, JR. On the evening of January 6, 2017, Harold Cleveland Wright, Jr. passed away peacefully after months of a battle with Oral Cancer. . Friends and Family visited and comforted Harold in his last few days at Duke Family Pavilion and Hospice. At the time of death, Harold was disabled. 67 years old and still trusting God with his life. Harold was the firstborn son of the deceased Helen Wright Gibbs and the deceased Harold Wright, Sr. on September 14, 1948. His stepdad is Columbus Samuel Gibbs who was also a close friend. Harold seemed to have friends everywhere. He would always see and speak to someone he knew just about everywhere he would go locally. Harold loved to fish whenever the opportunity arose. Harold was a contracted painter and then continued on to own his own business as Wright Paint Company. He attended Tabernacle of Life Church in Durham, North Carolina for all of his adult life. After a long engagement to Naomi Jean Turner, Harold was married for many years. with one child, JoAnna Suzanne Wright, being born and being the joy of their life. Harold and Naomi were close to her sister's family enough that they even claimed Phyllis Turner-Lutterloh and her three daughters, Dawn, Amy & Amanda, as their own and then even the children of these three daughters. Many trips and vacations were included together of both families. All four 'daughters' were just-like-Sisters. Harold was always so attentive to give help to these as if they were his own. He was a joy to be around for so many years, . Always laughing and joking, making others laugh. You could not be around Harold without smiling or laughing. He was always a help in spiritual advice and messages from the Message of God. I even heard him testify to a psychiatrist in the hospital about how real God is and the healing power that he believed in. He didn't mind talking about his Lord Jesus Christ. Harold Wright's siblings had many memories together as they grew up and even into their adult life. He told stories that were so funny of his growing up days with the brothers and sister. They were close with families that loved Harold so much. He adored his nieces and nephews. He seemed to have a big heart for them all. Before his wife's death, Harold had oral cancer that went into remission. Later he was blessed with a liver transplant and did very well with it for the rest of his life. Harold had lived a life of grief and depression after 2012 when his amazing Christian wife, Naomi Jean Turner Wright, was tragically killed. Following in 2013, he lost his beautiful only daughter, JoAnna Suzanne Wright at 27 years old. Each year afterwards until his death, he lost close friends and family, including his Mother just a few months ago. Though lonely for his immediate family and Through it All, Harold kept on believing and trusting God, our Lord Jesus Christ. He believed in Prayer. He has been so thankful, so appreciative of ALL Friends and relatives concerns and prayers. In his last days when he was able to still eat, drink and able to enjoy going somewhere to eat, he had an awesome stepdad, Sam Gibbs, and a brother, Sam Wright, that would drive him to the favorite Cracker Barrel Restaurant and other restaurants. Sarah Wright, his sister, stayed with Harold at his home many, many nights and days for as long as she was able. His brother, Sam Wright, would go over and stay hours to help out with Harold to not be alone. Afterwards, Dawn Lutterloh McBride was able to stay with Harold nightly with the help of Phyllis Turner-Lutterloh staying in between times so that Harold did not have to be alone and also keeping him out of a nursing home. Harold was never left alone for any length of time during his terminal days. Up til the near end, he could still crack a humorous remark to his Niece, Liz Brazil and others. At the time that Harold Wright was given his sad news of nothing else to help medically, Harold stated that he had to go home to Brandi, his dog, and have a talk with her. So touching.
