Obituary of Mildred Brown Jordan

Mildred Brown Jordan, 96, died Tuesday, September 06, 2011 at Brookshire Nursing Center, Hillsborough, N.C. She was born on December 27, 1914 to the late William David Brown and Varina Campbell Brown in Iva, S.C. She was a homemaker and an active and founding member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and a member of the Letter Carriers Auxillary, Asheville, N.C. Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by brothers Bryce,David, Lawrence, and Stewart Brown and sisters Jean Latham and Sarah Evans. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Sam H. Jordan; her son, Sam Jordan and wife, Gretchen, of Hillsborough; grandson, Michael Jordan of Raleigh; granddaughter, Elizabeth Marin and husband, Chris Marin, and great grandchildren, Ella and Lucian Marin of Raleigh. In addition, she is survived by one brother, Grier Brown of Iva and one sister, Lois Lane, of San Carlos California, numerous nieces,nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. A service of Christian burial will be held at Generostee Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 1705 Parker Bowie Road, Iva, S.C. on Friday, September 9th at 11:30 A.M. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 10th at 2 P.M. in the sanctuary at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Asheville, N.C.
