Obituary of Catherine Staunton

CHAPEL HILL - Mrs. Catherine Diggs Staunton, 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 9, 2011. Mrs Staunton was born and raised in Chatham County and was the daughter of the late Charles Lewis and Ada Willams Diggs. She retired from the Woolen Mills in Carrboro and from UNC Hospital where she worked for several years. Catherine was a faithful member of Merritts Chapel United Methodist Church until she became disabled. She is survived by her daughter: Betty Horton Davis (Larry) of Chapel Hill; son: Kenneth Horton (Sandra) of Apex; brother: Jim Diggs (Norma) of Chapel Hill; 4 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters: Edith Page and Mary Ward Hunt; brother: Ned Diggs. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 pm with services immediately following on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Merritts Chapel United Methodist Church by the Pastor Richard Farmer.
