Orange County Hillsborough - William Paisley "Bill" Roberts, 89, of Hillsborough, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011, after a brief battle with cancer. Bill was born to the late Jeff Lee and Margaret Hughes Roberts on August 26, 1922 in Cedar Grove, NC. While in Cedar Grove, Bill began farming with his father. Bill graduated from Aycock High School and attended Kings College in Raleigh for accounting. In addition to being a farmer, Bill was a World War II veteran, serving in the Air Force. He also worked as an accountant for T.C. Ellis of Cedar Grove. Later, he began working at Walker's Funeral Homes in Mebane, Hillsborough, and Chapel Hill as the general manager and bookkeeper. Additionally, Bill was a member of the Board of Directors of the Hillsborough Savings and Loan. Bill was predeceased by his parents Jeff Lee and Margaret Hughes Roberts of Cedar Grove; wife, Molene Hayes Roberts of Hillsborough; brother, Henry Lee Roberts of Cedar Grove; and sister, Margaret S. "Peggy" Bradsher of Hurdle Mills. Bill is survived by his daughters, Kathryn Rebecca Roberts of Hillsborough and Carol Roberts Myones and her husband, Barry Myones of Sugar Land, Texas; grandchildren, Courtney Hayes Horne of Hillsborough and Zachary Roberts Myones of Sugar Land; sister, Frances Roberts Sharpe and her husband, John Charles Sharpe of Cedar Grove; brother-in-law, Noel Warren Bradsher of Hurdle Mills; sister-in-law, Jean Hayes Hall of Hillsborough; sister-in-law, Sue Hayes Riley and her husband, Edwin Riley of Hillsborough; sister-in-law, Aurelia "Ree" Hayes of Hillsborough; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning at 11 o'clock, at Walkers Funeral Chapel in Hillsborough by Rev. Jane Wilson of Little River Presbyterian Church with a graveside committal. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7 o'clock to 9 o'clock at Walkers Funeral Home in Hillsborough. Condolences and tributes may be sent to Walkers Funeral Home 204 N. Churton Street, Hillsborough, NC 27278. Donations may be made in Bill's name to Little River Presbyterian Church 4211 Little River Church Rd, Hurdle Mills, NC 27541.
