Obituary of Thomas Lawson Kale

Thomas "Tom" Lawson Kale died peacefully at The Foley Center on November 4, 2017 in Blowing Rock, NC at the age of 91. Tom is survived by his wife of 35 years Judy May Kale, his 5 daughters and their spouses: Trudy Kale Compton and husband Tommy Compton of Mebane, NC, Theresa Lynn Kale and husband Steve McDow of Hillsborough, NC, Tina Kale Cates of Efland, NC, Tracey Kale Harrill of Durham, NC, Taren Kale Basnight of Durham, NC; 3 stepchildren and their spouses: Michael Wayne Allen and his wife Debbie Allen of Hope Mills, NC, James Timothy Allen and his wife Kay Allen of Lumberton, NC, and Donna Allen Hunsinger and her husband Scott Hunsinger of Boone, NC; 8 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Russell and Emma Kale, his brothers Russell and Richard Kale, and his sisters, Frances Turner and Marjorie Kale. Thomas Lawson Kale was born on March 22, 1926 in Troutman, NC. He graduated from Staunton Military Academy in Staunton, VA. Tom served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Hornet during WWII. He was the Owner and President of Lawson Development Company of Harrisburg, NC. A receiving for the family is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Walker's Funeral Home, 204 N. Churton Street, Hillsborough, NC with the funeral immediately following at 2 p.m. Dr. Edward Eugene Hunsinger will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tom's life. The family would like to thank The Foley Center in Blowing Rock, NC and Hospice of Caldwell County staff and caregivers for the wonderful care they provided to Tom while he was in their care.
