Obituary of Luna Mae Harrison Roberts

Mrs. Luna Mae Harrison Roberts, age 78, of 4124 Claiborne's Road, Mebane, NC, left this world for a better place leaving behind her Family and Friends whom she dearly loved on December 17, 2011 at home. She was born January 3, 1933 in Person County, NC. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is the wife of Mr. Thomas Claiborne Roberts and the daughter of Walter Alford (Cute) Harrison and Mollie Allison Harrison both deceased. She was a life-time member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church in Hurdle Mills, NC. She is also survived by a daughter Denise Roberts Ford and Husband, Bruce of Spotsylvania, Virginia, two Granddaughters Ashley Ford Huggi and husband, Omar, Robin Ford both of Richmond, Virginia, two great-granddaughters Maryam and Safia Huggi, two brother-in-laws: James Melton of Creedmoor and Millard Roberts and wife Shirley of Mebane, NC. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mrs. Inez Harrison Melton. She was a graduate of Hurdle Mills High School in Person County. After graduation, she went to work at Western Electric which later became Lucent Technologies where she retired with 43 years of service. She enjoyed life to the fullest. She enjoyed going to Carolina football and basketball games, stock car racing, eating lunch with her retired friends and spending time with her family. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in her memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell at 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215. The family would like to extend a special thanks to neighbors, church family, friends and family members for their love, kindness and support through the last few months. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Walker's Funeral Home in Hillsborough, NC from 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 11:00 am at Walnut Grove United Methodist Church located in Hurdle Mills, NC.
