Orange County Hillsborough - Mrs. Mabel Wilkerson Waddell, 81, was a resident of 1608 Riverside Drive in Hillsborough. She passed on Thursday morning, March 1st, 2012, at home after an extended illness. She was a native of Orange County and attended Orange County schools. She had been a resident of Hillsborough for 52 years. She was a member of Fairfield Presbyterian Church. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Fairfield Presbyterian Church, by the Rev. Chris Grill and Dr. Bob Brizendine will also preside with service at Fairfield. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Surviving are Charles Waddell, husband; with two children: Son, Greg M. Waddell and wife Debbie Waddell; one daughter, Teresa Waddell Holloway and husband Lynn S. Holloway; three grandchildren: Brad S. Holloway and wife Ashley, Ginger Lea Waddell, and Bryan L. Holloway and wife Heather; two great grandsons: Jackson and Braxton Holloway. Soon to be a great grandchild of Bryan and Heather Holloway. Also Mabel's guardian dog, "The Lit Bit." Preceded in death: one sister and four brothers. Mabel Waddell, last of her family. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. David Samuel and Luna McKee Wilkerson, of Durham. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, March 4th, 2012 at Walker's Funeral Home in Hillsborough, and at other times at the home of Charles Waddell of 1608 Riverside Drive, Hillsborough. Pallbearers: her two grandsons, Brad and Bryan Holloway, Danny Cameron, nephew, Ronnie Wilkerson, nephew Stanley Muse, nephew and Max Kennedy, cousin. Memorial contributions to Fairfield Cemetery Fund in care of Flora Waddell Baldwin, 812 Mt. Willing Road, Efland, N.C. 27243.
