He also had a long post-retirement career as a ranger at both UNC-Finley and Duke University Golf Courses. He was an accomplished fisherman and avid golfer with a long history of frustrating rounds tempered by a career hole-in-one. Larry was a long-time parishoner of The Newman Catholic Student Center in Chapel Hill where he served as a Greeter and Lector. His community volunteer involvement included many years as a breakfast team leader for the Inter-Faith Council Community Kitchen and as a driver and Fearrington Friend for Fearrington Cares. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 31 at 10:00 AM at the Newman Center, with Monsignor John Wall presiding celebrant. Burial will follow immediately after at Damascus Congregational Christian Church Cemetery, 522 Damascus Church Road in Orange County.
