Obituary of Roland C. Howard

Orange County Hillsborough - Mr. Roland C. Howard, 91, formerly of Rockingham, NC, died Monday, April 2, 2012 at Carillon Assisted Living with his family by his side. He was a WWII veteran and retired from the NC Department of Motor Vehicles after 33 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hillsborough. He was a life long member of the Lions Club in Rockingham, NC. Surviving are his wife, Janice O. Howard; three daughters: Mary H. Ray (Mike), and Melvia H. Ward (Willard) both of Hillsborough, and Pat H. Clark (Charles) of Wake Forest; one brother, Max Howard; two sisters: Lillian A. Petterson and Elsie Haywood; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert C. Howard and Lillian M. Howard, two brothers: Robert Howard and Earl Howard, and his first wife, Alma Rese Howard. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday in Walker's Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Randy Carter and Mr. Don Dickerson. Visitation will be 10-11 AM Thursday prior to the service. Burial will be 2 PM Friday in Richmond County Memorial Park, Rockingham, NC.
