Obituary of Billy Gene Terry

Billy Terry (1940-2024)

Billy was born on May 11, 1940, in Chatham County, North Carolina.  Billy was one of eight siblings, from oldest to youngest, Juanita, Johnny, Lonnie, Wayne, Francis, twin sister Barbara and Tommy. He met his wife Doris and married at twenty-four.  They loved antiquing and traveling together.  He also loved to restore children's pedal cars. They had two children, Randall and Karen. He was a caring and loving father.  He worked at the Town of Chapel Hill for 30 years, he was a fire fighter, then became the mechanic. He's the grandfather to three grandchildren Camille,  James, and Dylan. He enjoyed spending time with them over their summer vacations when they visited.  He adored his great-grandchild Anna. He was a member of Bynum Baptist Church. He passed away Monday December 23rd. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM in the afternoon on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Walker's Funeral Home, 11680 15-501 North, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, 27517. Interment will follow at Westwood Cemetery in Carrboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
