Kathy worked at the NC Forestry Service in Hillsborough for 30 years before retiring, where her colleagues became her work family, whom she loved dearly. Additionally, she served as a member of the Hillsborough Moose Lodge and was involved with the Relay for Life, serving her community with dedication. She also served for many years as the chair and board member of Orange County Board of Elections, where she was involved in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process. She was well respected by her peers and if you knew Kathy, she always had an open door and an open heart for anyone.
Kathy loved traveling with her sister-in-law, Glenda. A fond memory being the many trips to Cherokee and the shopping adventures they had. A special part of their time together was sharing a meal and dessert together, which had to involve chocolate.
Kathy is survived by her daughter, Lori Knight Berry, and son-in-law, Jay Berry; daughter-in-law, Jo Anna Knight; and grandchildren, Grant Monroe Berry, William M. Knight III (Trey), and Catherine E. Knight (Katie). She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Karen Johnson Condit, Penny Arlene Johnson Carpenter, and Janice Johnson Zezulka, as well as her sisters-in-law, Glenda Knight, Julie Johnson, and LaVerne Knight and brother-in-law, Bobby Ray Knight Sr. Kathy leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews, along with her beloved grand pups, Bandit, Apollo, and Atlas.
