Obituary of Ira Roland Wagner

Roland Wagner, 90, of Mebane, NC passed away after a brief illness at Alamance Regional Hospital Monday evening, November 11, 2024.
Mr. Wagner was born on Saturday, September 8, 1934 in Orange County, NC, in the Little River Township, to the late Ira Coleman and Lillian Elizabeth (Cole) Wagner. His paternal grandparents were the late John Minnick and Mamie Jacobs Wagner and his maternal grandparents were the late Wiley Steven and Mary Magelene Briggs Cole. He was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Shirley Laverne Wagner and brothers, Ronald Coleman "Oodie" Wagner and John David Wagner.
Mr. Wagner is survived by his son, Charles Winfred Wynn, daughters, Wendy Renae Wagner and Kelly Lee Westmoreland. He is also survived by a brother, Daryl Kent Wagner and his wife, Linda, a sister, Cheryl Wagner Davis, a sister-in-law, Carolyn Medlin Wagner and many loving nieces, nephews, neighbors and close friends.
As a young boy, Mr. Wagner moved with his parents to Hillsborough in 1941. He grew up attending West Hill Baptist Church and worked there as the custodian and groundskeeper as a teenager. As an adult he worked at Bellevue Mill in Hillsborough, NC, Western Electric in Burlington, NC, operated Crown Service Station in Hillsborough, built cabinets, and was a building inspector in Orange and Alamance Counties and Mebane, NC.
His favorite past-times after retiring were restoring antique cars and listening to country music. He also enjoyed sharing experiences and stories from his past and he almost always had a smile for everyone. Mr. Wagner loved family, friends and life.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at Breakthrough Community Church, 703 S. Third Street in Mebane, NC.
