Obituary of Wesley Woods

On Sunday, November 10, 2024, Wesley Darius Woods, loving husband and father of two children, two grandchildren and one great grandchild, passed away at the age of 87.  

Wesley was born on June 22, 1937 in Hillsborough, NC to Fred and Mary Elizabeth Woods.  As a teenager he worked at Western Auto in Hillsborough after graduating from Hillsborough High School and joining the Navy Reserve.  He married his beloved wife Alice Jean Riggsbee of Carrboro August 16, 1959.  Wesley purchased Western Auto in 1972 and renamed it Dual Supply Co.

Wesley never met a stranger.  With his infectious smile and hard work ethics to serve the people, he became a pillar of the community.

He was a Deacon at Carrboro Baptist Church and was a volunteer for Orange County Rescue Squad.  He loved food and the people of the community.

Wesley was preceded in death by father, Fred, mother, Mary Elizabeth, sister Anthenette, and brother Ronnie.  He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Alice Jean, two sons, Michael (Kim), Jeffrey (Lisa), two grandchildren, Brittany (Tyler), Adam (Morgan) and one great grandchild (Everly), one sister Brenda (Norman), three brothers, Doug, Larry (Carol) and Donnie (Betty), and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be 4-6 PM Tuesday, November 12, in Walker's Funeral Home of Hillsborough.  The graveside service will be held  2 PM Wednesday, November 13, in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
