Obituary of Raymond Preston Cook
Please share a memory of Raymond to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Raymond Preston Cook, “Ray”, “Pa-Pa”, age 86, died peacefully on September 25th, 2024 after his battle with cancer. He was born in Caswell County and was a graduate of George Washington High School. He worked 20 years with Crane Tire, with an additional 20+ years as the Maintenance Director at the Caswell County School System.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Cook, their son Jeff Cook and his wife Gail; their children Bonnie (and husband Brooks Foley) and Preston Cook. He is preceded in death by his daughter Cheryl Blackard, and survived by his grandsons Joey Blackard (and wife Ashley) and George Blackard (and wife Gigi). Pa-Pa will forever live in the hearts of his beloved great grandchildren Landon, Willow, Annily, Mackenzie, Holden and Brooklyn.
Pa-Pa was never afraid to learn something new and share his wealth of knowledge with others. He loved his wife Sally endlessly with over 68 years of marriage, and cared deeply for all who had the pleasure to call him friend. If one could write the story of such a treasured man, they’d tell of all his adventures, wrestling an ape and taming wild animals, hunting and fishing, and his ability to fix almost anything. They’d tell of all his spunk, fearless love of life and joy of cooking. They’d share with you his memory, his life worth living, his impact on all whom he left behind. Raymond will be missed dearly.
All are welcome to attend Graveside services at Red House Presbyterian Church on Tuesday October 1st at 2pm. Memorial contributions may be offered on behalf of Ray to Red House Presbyterian Church or Authora Care Hospice Services.
