Herman Aulston King loving husband and father of two went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 15, 2024. Herman is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years Connie McAdams King. He is also survived by his daughters Tonni King (Josh), Tina King (Mark), and granddaughters Trinity King, Haley Ellis, Alyssa Ellis (TJ), Baylei Ellis, Cecelia King-Cates, Taylor King-Cates, two great-grandchildren and the many more that he adopted along the way.
Herman was born in Burlington NC on August 27, 1954. He was preceded in death by his parents Wilbert Scott King and Juanita Ann King. Surviving are three brothers Clifton “Scottie” King (Shirley), Michael King, and Marshall “Lynn” King (Michelle). He is survived by a huge extended family of nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, and numerous cherished friends.
Herman served his beloved country in the Army, 82nd Airborne Division. He retired as a tool maker from Sandvik in Mebane NC after 30-plus years. Herman's most cherished memories were with his family and friends. Many of those included time spent at his beach home at Topsail Island or on the water in his boat fishing. He enjoyed many rounds at the Golf course with his friends; always talking junk and smoking a good cigar. Herman was a man’s man; he loved people and always put others first. He would give anyone the shirt off his back and was always willing to help anyone down on their luck or in need. He was an excellent provider for his family and friends. He had an incredible relationship with his granddaughters; he spent many days at the parks playing with them and teaching them to fish and how to play golf.
Herman was introduced to the Lord in a very unexpected way. Acting on his belief in the Lord, he was baptized on August 27th 2018. No doubt his great love for the Lord, assured him as to where he would spend eternity. He was a member of Pilgrim Chapel Baptist Church in Gibsonville NC.
Herman’s Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel at Walkers Funeral Home in Mebane NC on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 4 pm. The family will receive guests immediately following the service.
To honor the fun-loving person that Herman was, the Family requests people to wear bright colors.
